FAMILY READING NIGHTS
Baker County Middle School will host Family Reading Nights on February 28th, March 21st, and April 25th. Please bring your child and join us from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. in the media center. Students can read, check out books, and take AR tests during that time.
BCMS is challenging students to have perfect attendance from Monday, February 6th through Friday, March 31st. The students who qualify will be invited to attend a free cookout during school on Friday, April 7th. Students can wear hats and sunglasses during the cookout. In order to qualify for the cookout, students must not have any unexcused absences or tardies from February 6th through March 31st. Hope to see everyone there!
8th Grade End of Year Trip
The cost is $95, which includes transportation and theme park ticket. The trip is May 23rd to Universal’s Islands of Adventure. We only take 150 students. Any student that has a major referral (fighting/abusive behavior, theft, weapons, and alcohol/drugs) is not eligible to attend. If a students has more than 3 referrals of ANY kind, then the student is not allow to attend. Also ANY STUDENT BEING RETAINED in the 8th grade OR REQUIRED SUMMER SCHOOL for promotion will unable to attend.
There is a payment plan available, however a $20 deposit AND SIGNED permission slip must be turned in to hold a spot. We will begin collecting deposits and permission slips on January 23rd.
New morning procedures will begin after Christmas Break on January 10th
Any student eating breakfast at school will report to your grade level cafeteria where you will remain until the bell rings. If you are in 6th or 7th grade and not eating breakfast you will report directly to the auditorium and remain there until the bell rings. If you are in 8th grade and not eating breakfast at school you will report directly to the gym and remain there until the bell rings. The library will be open before school. If a student goes to the library they will remain there until the bell rings. We will have a trial period where students can demonstrate responsible use of their cell phones before school only in the gym, auditorium and cafeteria. Before exiting their assigned area cell phones must be turned off and put away until afternoon dismissal at 2:05.
